Starting this Journey

I was given an additional responsibility outside my normal duties to take over stats reporting for our entire department. The existing process consisted of running several reports every day, meticulously copying the desired data into separate spreadsheets, and sending out a summary email. After reviewing the process, I knew there had to be better methods.

I created a series of macros in VBA to open and pull the needed data from reports, then generate a daily summary email automatically. I then created further automated processes to record the stats in a new database, and created interactive dashboards of metadata that update automatically every day.

I enjoyed every step of this process! It got me thinking about the possibility of centering my career around this sort of data analysis and automation!
